2nd Year Kindergarten (also known as 4-Year-Old) Program
Hours
San Remo Pre School currently runs two 2nd Year Kinder Groups: Pelicans and Seals, with each child attending 15 hours of funded Kinder each week.
Refer to the Timetable Overview page for details of the weekly times of each session.
Key Program Inclusions
The 2nd Year Kinder program consists of spontaneous and intentional teaching. This allows for individual and group observations, reflections, and goals to be developed, supporting the progress and learning dispositions of each child, all of which contributes towards positive outcomes for all children.
Our high-quality early childhood program provides an environment to build outcomes for children socially, emotionally, and intellectually. The focus is on teamwork, kindness, emotional regulation and resilience. Our educators are continually reflecting on our beliefs, values, ideas, and theories of learning.
Every environment within the indoor and outdoor spaces provides opportunities for independence, one-on-one investigation and small and large group learning opportunities. We support children with their transition to school and staff are always planning for future learning.
Incursions and special events are a feature in the 2nd Year Kinder program and are planned throughout the year. They include things such as yoga classes and Mother's Day Pampering sessions.
Each child's learning journey is communicated with families through interactions, face-to-face discussions, phone calls, interviews, and our digital Kinderloop communication tool, where parents are encouraged to contribute and be part of our kinder program.
Room Description
Our indoor and outdoor environments offer inviting spaces where children can play, learn and grow. They are set up for children to feel happy, safe and secure.
Learning spaces and experiences are provided to support individual play, as well as parallel and cooperative play with others, with a focus on open-ended experiences and providing children with the opportunity to make choices. Environments are set up with areas to allow for different types of play. For example, active and quiet play, sensory and messy play, creative play as well as imaginative and dramatic play.
